History of Rudolf Rafflenbeul Stahlwarenfabrik

Stahlwarenfabrik Rudolf Rafflenbeul – 100 Years of the Rudolf Rafflenbeul Steel Products Factory.
(From the Thaler to the Euro)

What is a car made of? Obviously, the bodywork, steering column, seats, axles … Above all, though, a huge quantity of small components, a not inconsiderable proportion of the German production of which originates in the Hagen area. A good representative is the Oberhagen firm of Stahlwarenfabrik Rudolf Rafflenbeul GmbH & Co., which this year celebrates its hundredth year of trading.

This medium-sized concern principally produces springsteel products, and supplies not only the automotive industry, but also the electronic, machine building and construction industries as well as wholesale traders. A wide range of standard components is produced. The production spectrum covers over 4,000 items including wave spring washers, spring washers, sprung sleeves, sprung straight pins and special parts like stampings, special custom washers and special custom sleeves and pins (all as per drawing or sample).

We serve more than 900 customers, amongst which can be found some of the world’s most famous car manufacturers. As much as a quarter of production is exported. Currently, more than 120 people are employed at the Eilpe Strasse works. It can be said that we have a truly multi-cultural company culture. Our employees hail from around a dozen different countries. We at Rafflenbeul are also proud that a number of our staff work for the same firm as their fathers, or even grandfathers. This bears witness to continuity and the trusting relationship between employees and owners in this typical middle-sized enterprise which has continued over decades. Moreover, it has always been part of our company philosophy to have a relatively high number of apprentices in training.
